Too much social media. I'm out.
I'm not feeling okay.
For the past 5 years, I really haven't been able to create something new that is fulfilling for me. I don't know why.
And social media is not helping my brain.
Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Mastodon, Twitter, Twitch...
It's just too much. I'm out.
But, I'll always be posting on my website and in this one.
Hello! If you're reading this, this means you care about me enough to know my personal website and read my blogs.
This blog is just in case you are wondering why I'm not posting on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, or anywhere else anymore.
As if I'm someone important, haha.
This is just me signing off of my social media accounts for now. I'm not deleting them, I won't just actively consume them.
I just want to remove all possible distractions and causes of my anxiety and depressive tendencies and try to go back to a place where I can create something joyfully for myself.
Creating for the sake of the joy of creating.
I haven't felt that for a while. And this is me taking serious steps to reclaim that feeling.
Maybe no one will read this. I don't care.
But for those who will, know that I deeply thank you. I poured my heart out on this one. I wrote it as a release and thought dump tonight. My head is so clouded right now.
I hope I'm making the right decisions.
And I hope you'll still be there to support me.
But there has to be a place where I can publish and promote my music, right?
So, where will I show my work?
And with that, I decided to just use two platforms to share my work.
First, my website!
Yup, this one is right here. I'm going to be here. All the time. You can contact me, and I will surely reply.
And the next one, YouTube!
I'm trying to apply the 80/20 rule here. What is the 20% of the platforms today that will yield me 80% of the result? And I saw that it's on YouTube.
It's the 2nd most visited website in the world, the 2nd largest search engine in the world, and the biggest video sharing site in the world, and there's a good chance I can monetize my work and continue using this one to make a living as a musician.
I know YouTube is still a social media platform, but it's primarily a video-sharing platform first. I can post music, videos, shorts, livestreams, and regular posts as well, so putting them in one place is a good idea for me.
I'm not saying that I'll quit social media entirely, as it's not sustainable for me as an independent musician. But I can't be present for all of them. I just can't.
I'm way too limited and incapable of handling all that.
Then I asked myself this question: if I had only one platform to choose from to share my music, my entire body of work, and some updates on my life, what would it be?
Then, of course, go to the biggest one, right? That's the most efficient course of action.
So for now, you can only find me creating on my website and my YouTube channel.
It's all temporary. Once I get my headspace back, I'll reconnect with all of you on Instagram and in threads.
I hope I can find joy in creating again.
And I hope you'll be with me as I continue on this journey.
See you on YouTube and here on my website.
